Abstract


Eating safe foods and drinking safe fluids is a very important general measure for travel health. Food poisoning can be very dangerous and you may even be hospitalised when severe vomiting and diarrhoea cause dehydration. Not all contaminated foods and drinks will cause food poisoning but it can be very distressing, embarrassing and uncomfortable to suffer from vomiting and diarrhoea whilst travelling. This section deals with foodborne causes of diarrhoea. Although other
causes of diarrhoea and vomiting, such as (viruses) are not discussed, these may also be implicated.
