Who should get the flu vaccine?

Abstract
As unbelievable as it may seem, influenza is the leading cause of vaccine-preventable deaths in the USA. Despite this fact, immunisation against the flu is lagging, and vaccine uptake is declining in many countries, including South Africa. Although the overwhelming majority of deaths from influenza occur in high-risk patients, it is the industrial workforce that is more likely to be vaccinated than those high-risk patients who need the protection.
