Provinces struggle with drug-resistant TB

Abstract


Health officials countrywide are battling to cope with the growing numbers of patients with drug-resistant TB and provinces are divided about whether to hospitalise all patients or not. A recent national workshop that brought together public health officials working on multi-drug resistant (MDR) and extensively drug resistant (XDR) TB in all nine provinces revealed vastly different standards of care and practices.
