HIV post-exposure prophylaxis following needle-stick injuries
Abstract
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is one of the most serious global health challenges. In 2017, The Joint United
Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) reported an alarming 36.9 million people living with HIV/AIDS.1 The geographic distribution of this global health burden paints a dismal picture for Africa since eastern and southern Africa represent just over half of the cases worldwide.2
